AAVE Price Slides Amid Governance Dispute, Analysts Flag Trust Risks

The Aave DAO is experiencing renewed pressure on governance following an alignment proposal that was brought to a Snapshot vote. The decision precipitated internal resistance from the contributors and coincided with a significant drop in AAVE price. The situation has reignited concerns around governance transparency and delegated consensus in the ecosystem.

Snapshot Vote Triggers New Governance Controversy

The governance controversy started when an alignment proposal went to a Snapshot vote.

Aave Labs CEO Stani Kulechov confirmed the decision after several days of discussions on the forum. According to him, there was already enough debate in the proposal.

Kulechov explained that Snapshot voting is based on well-founded governance procedures. He said the move to vote was the most appropriate next step. However, some contributors did not agree with this assessment.

Several community members complained that important issues had not been resolved. They argued that the proposal moved forward in the absence of broad delegate alignment. This disagreement soon turned into a broader dispute of governance.

As a result, the vote came to serve as a focal point for more general concerns. Participants questioned whether governance processes were being rushed through. The debate revealed underlying friction in the decision-making structure of the Aave DAO.

Timing and Consensus Issues

Marc Zeller, a prominent contributor to the Aave ecosystem, criticized the move in public. He said that the consensus of the delegates had not been fully achieved. According to Zeller, open questions undermined the legitimacy of the vote.

Zeller was also concerned about the timing of the Snapshot vote. He observed that the holiday period cut down on active participation. Lower engagement, he warned, could impact the outcome of informed governance.

Besides, Zeller cited the recent conclusion of the SEC investigation into Aave. He said the timing may mean a decreased re-engagement of communities. Lower levels of engagement may affect the governance discussions later.

These issues raised the need for involvement in decentralized governance. They also highlighted the problems of organizing large and global communities. As debates continued, tensions within the Aave DAO became more visible.

Proposal Author and Community Members Push Back

The proposal’s author, Ernesto Boado, also expressed his concerns about the process. He said the Snapshot filing was not in accordance with his original intentions. Boado said he was not consulted when the proposal came up for a vote.

According to Boado, rushed votes may undermine community trust. He emphasized that open discussion is a crucial element in the effective governance of a DAO. He further added that improved communication could have avoided the dispute.

Beyond the proposal itself, other allegations were made in the community. A community member named Aylo expressed concerns that there had been changes to the frontend. He alleged the revenue from the swap may have been diverted from the DAO.

These claims heightened the issue of governance accountability. Aylo warned that such matters might alter the way tokenholders view governance relationships. The allegations added another level of uncertainty to an already tense situation.

AAVE Price Prediction as Uncertainty Drags Sentiment

Governance tensions have coincided with notable price weakness for AAVE. At the time of writing, AAVE price is trading around $152.8, showing sustained selling pressure. The token has lost almost 7% in the last 24 hours.

TradingView data also indicated that AAVE price has declined by approximately 16% over the past week. Intraday charts showed consistent lower highs and dissipating momentum. Buy-side volume is still declining.

Market structure implies that sellers have short-term control over prices. AAVE price continues to trade below recent levels of resistance. This setup reflects the caution of traders in the face of governance uncertainty.
