Ripple Payments Europe has joined the European Securities and Markets Authority’s interim MiCA register as an authorized crypto-asset service provider. The July 16 update added 14 firms and raised the total number of listed CASPs to 294.
Separately, SBI Holdings completed its purchase of a majority stake in Singapore-based Coinhako, following approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The two developments place Ripple’s European payments business and its long-time Japanese partner within wider regulated digital asset networks in Europe and Asia.
XRP News: Ripple Payments Enters MiCA Register
ESMA added Ripple Payments Europe to the register after Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier granted the company a full CASP authorization. Ripple announced the approval on July 6, following preliminary clearance in June. The authorization covers Ripple Payments Europe and supports services for financial institutions, companies, and other business clients across the European Economic Area.
The latest register update also added banks and other financial groups. The new names include Portugal’s Bison Bank, Croatia’s Hrvatska poštanska banka, two German cooperative banks, and Liechtenstein-based Kaiser Partner Privatbank. Their inclusion shows how banks and crypto companies now use the same EU framework when seeking permission to provide digital asset services.

MiCA creates common rules for authorization, disclosure, supervision, and customer information across the European Union. These crypto regulations replace separate national approaches for many covered services. ESMA updates its interim register each week after national regulators and the European Banking Authority submit new information.
Ripple Builds Its Regulated European Payments Base
Ripple’s Luxembourg CASP license completes the company’s MiCA requirements for covered crypto services in the EEA. The company also holds an electronic money institution authorization in Luxembourg. Together, the licenses support its payment system, including the collection, exchange, and payout of supported assets through one business integration.
Ripple news has focused on licensing as the company expands services for banks, fintech firms, and corporate clients. The approval gives Ripple Payments Europe a clear operating route under the region’s crypto regulations. However, the authorization does not grant separate regulatory approval for XRP across every use case.
Ripple states that its enterprise products can use XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin alongside other payment tools. The firm also offers custody, liquidity, and treasury services. For XRP news readers, the register entry connects the Ripple-linked ecosystem with a licensed European payment provider.
SBI Completes Majority Purchase of Coinhako
Meanwhile, Ripple-affiliated SBI Holdings acquired a majority stake in Coinhako on July 16 through SBI Ventures Asset. The transaction included a capital injection and the purchase of shares from existing investors. SBI completed the deal after the Monetary Authority of Singapore provided the required approval, making Coinhako a consolidated SBI subsidiary.
Coinhako operates its Singapore business through Hako Technology, which holds a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The group also owns Alpha Hako, which the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission lists as a crypto-asset service provider. The exchange brings an established customer base and regional operating network to SBI’s digital asset business.
SBI said it plans to connect Coinhako with its financial services, technology, and international network. The group will examine tokenization, stablecoins, on-chain finance, cross-border transactions, and upgraded trading services.
Japan and Singapore Links Take Shape
SBI views Singapore as a central location for its Asia-Pacific digital asset strategy. The group also works with Startale on JPYSC, a trust-type yen-denominated stablecoin. Coinhako could support services linking Japan and Southeast Asia under the laws and crypto regulations in each market.
The acquisition gives SBI control of a regulated Singapore platform while it develops regional payment and trading links. Coinhako co-founder and chief executive Yusho Liu will lead the platform into its next operating phase under SBI ownership. The group aims to connect exchanges across markets and reduce barriers created by borders and currencies.
