U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows extended to five consecutive trading days as BTC held near $77,000 following its strongest weekly rally in months. The funds attracted roughly $1.92 billion from Aug. 17 through Aug. 21, marking their strongest weekly inflow of 2026.
The renewed demand coincided with Bitcoin’s surge from the low-$60,000 region toward almost $80,000. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust remained the largest contributor, while Q2 regulatory filings also showed active institutional positioning across several major asset managers.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs Recorded $1.92 Billion Inflows This Week
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $1.92 billion in net inflows this week. This marks their largest weekly buying spree since the October 10, 2025 flash crash. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) was among the top contributors with over $1.3 billion in inflows last week.

On August 21, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $307.46 million in total net inflows. BlackRock’s IBIT led the flows with $239.28 million, followed by Fidelity’s FBTC with $30.19 million and Bitwise’s BITB with $9.21 million.
BlackRock’s IBIT alone added 3,103 BTC worth $239.28 million, with trading volume reaching $5.2 billion.
Other inflows included $13.62 million for Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini ETF, $7.73 million for Morgan Stanley’s MSBT and $4.36 million for VanEck’s HODL. ARKB added $3.07 million, while the remaining listed ETFs recorded no flows.
Bitcoin ETFs And BTC Price Move Ahead
Amid solid Bitcoin ETF inflows, institutional demand for BTC has been rising simultaneously. If this demand continues, BTC price could smash past $80,000 to set the next momentum in rally.
Institutional ownership of BlackRock’s IBIT rose to 25.1% in Q2 2026, up 6% quarter-over-quarter. This is despite the number of institutional holders declining 4% to 1,551, reported Trader T.

The basis trade unwind appears to be largely complete, with Brevan Howard reducing its position by 70%, Millennium by 50%, while D.E. Shaw and IMC exited. Hedge funds, which accounted for 68% of IBIT’s institutional ownership at launch, now represent just 13.7%. It suggestes ETF flows are increasingly driven by strategic allocations rather than CME basis trades.
Morgan Stanley emerged as a major new institutional holder, increasing its position from zero to 16.5 million shares. Sovereign investors remained steady, with Mubadala, ADIC and Harvard maintaining flat positions.
Blockchain analytics firm Grayscale reported that this week could represent a turning point for Bitcoin. Historically, Bitcoin has bottomed around 80% below its cycle peak. However, the latest bear market saw the asset decline by roughly 50%, a smaller drawdown than in previous cycles at this stage.

Markets had been debating whether Bitcoin could face another leg lower in Q4 2026. While risks remain, Grayscale said this week’s rally could indicate that Bitcoin has reached a more durable bottom.
Can BTC Price Rally Continue?
Analyst Michael van de Poppe expects Bitcoin to see another leg lower before resuming its upward move. The analyst said he would look to enter long positions after a further pullback.
Van de Poppe noted that Bitcoin trading is often slower on Saturdays, adding that he would look to buy if the market sweeps the current lows. He identified the range below $76,000 as a potential buying area, with $74,000 as an even more attractive level.
