The crypto market entered the weekend with monetary policy and U.S. regulation emerging as the next major catalysts. Bitcoin traded around the upper-$70,000 region after a volatile response to August inflation data, while Ethereum and Solana also recovered from earlier weakness. Traders now face a Federal Reserve decision on Sept. 16 and a key Senate procedural test for the CLARITY Act one day earlier.
August consumer inflation strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve could resume tightening for the first time in roughly three years. At the same time, the broader crypto market remains below a higher-time-frame resistance zone identified by analysts. That leaves macro policy, market structure and regulation converging during the same trading week.
After US CPI, Crypto Market Remains Careful of Fed Rate Hike
US consumer inflation remained in line with expectations in August, with CPI rising 3.4% year over year. Core CPI also matched forecasts, easing to 2.4% year over year. Bitcoin price saw a brief upside following Friday’s data.
The inflation data keeps the Federal Reserve’s September policy decision in focus. Markets are assessing if the latest cooling in inflation is sufficient or signals continued gradual progress toward the 2% target.
Moreover, the global markets are now pricing an 86.7% probability of a Fed rate hike next week, as per CME data. A more hawkish rate outlook could tighten liquidity and weigh on Bitcoin, Ethereum and other risk assets.

Popular analyst Daan Crypto Trades noted that the total crypto market cap remains stuck on a clear higher time-frame. This mirrors the current Bitcoin price range of $60,000-$80,000.
The analyst said a larger trend would require a breakout above the current resistance level. Such a move would also mark a new higher high on the weekly timeframe. Until that breakout occurs, Daan Crypto Trades said the resistance level should continue to be treated as resistance.

Trillion to Enter Crypto Market If Clarity Act Passes
During his recent CNBC interview, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that he thinks trillions of dollars will enter the crypto market if the Clarity Act gets a go-ahead. However, the odds of passing the CLARITY Act are not in favour of crypto enthusiasts amid key hurdles.
“Just like we saw with the GENIUS Act… I think something similar can happen with the CLARITY vote,” noted the Coinbase CEO. “I think the Clarity Act is ready to get a YES vote! Frankly, if it doesn’t pass, it’s (also) going to be a good outcome. We’re going to get regulatory clarity one way or another (either on the 15th or a day or two after,” added Armstrong.
Kara Calvert, the Coinbase VP of U.S. Policy said regulators are prepared to advance crypto market structure reforms even if the CLARITY Act fails to pass.
How Are BTC, ETH Prices Reacting to Macro Events?
More than $250 million in short positions were liquidated on Friday as Bitcoin climbed back above $79,000, following the release of the US CPI data. However, it has given up the gains in hours following it.
Ethereum rose to $2,600, while Solana reclaimed the $100 level. The broader market is reacting positively to the latest US CPI data.
Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin, but the key question is whether the broader crypto market follows, reported analysts at AskClash. Market breadth, liquidity, Bitcoin dominance and leverage will help determine whether the move marks the start of a broader risk-on rotation or another short-lived divergence.
