UFC Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou disclosed that he will receive half of his UFC 270 prize in the form of Bitcoin or BTC through Cash App.

On Jan 23, the French-Cameroonian MIMA fighter will be facing off against Ciryl Gane and preparing to earn a guaranteed amount of $750,000. On Jan 18, Ngannou in a tweet said that he has done extensive research on Bitcoin and is confident that the virtual asset is the future of the money. “Bitcoin is valuable, secure, and no one can mess with it,” he added.

Honda Center in Anaheim, California is finalized as the venue for the faceoff and can accommodate an 18,000+ audience. In Ngannou’s title reign, it’s his first defense.

Cash App is going all out on the fight as it has announced a huge giveaway of $300,000 for everyone who posts on Twitter about the grand championship.

Ngannou is also not the first MMA fighter to receive his prize purse in BTC. Kevin Lee, in December, revealed that he will receive earnings from the Russia-based Eagle Fighting Championship in BTC.
