- MicroStrategy remains steadfast in its Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
- CoinShares analysts have identified several reasons why a selloff by the firm is unlikely in the near future.
- This approach also inspires other dedicated Bitcoin adopters, such as Metaplanet.
Bitcoin’s price surge is no accident. Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, believes Bitcoin is increasingly being seen as “digital gold,” and many are taking notice.
Recently, MicroStrategy transferred 1,652 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $114 Million. That caused a stir in the market. This move has fueled speculation about a potential Bitcoin sale by the firm, contributing to the current market volatility.
However, CoinShares analysts have provided compelling reasons to believe that MicroStrategy is unlikely to sell its Bitcoin holdings. These holdings have been accumulated over the past four years. Despite the ongoing speculation, the firm’s commitment to Bitcoin appears steadfast.
MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor Shows Commitment to Long-Term Bitcoin Accumulation
As revealed in their October report, CoinShares analysts highlighted MicroStrategy’s firm commitment to its Bitcoin strategy. The company plans to invest $42 Billion over the next three years to acquire more Bitcoin. For this, it will use a mix of debt and equity financing.
For this strategy to succeed, MicroStrategy needs favorable financing conditions to boost demand for its convertible notes.

The firm uses these notes to buy Bitcoin at a lower cost without diluting shareholder value. Selling its current Bitcoin holdings could jeopardize these conditions.
Analysts also point out that MicroStrategy and Bitcoin are now deeply intertwined. If the company were to sell some of its Bitcoin, it could negatively impact its market valuation. It could play a key part in its investment strategy.
Additionally, such a sale could trigger significant tax liabilities due to the $7.7 Billion in capital gains since it began purchasing Bitcoin.
Moreover, MicroStrategy’s cash flow from Bitcoin investments now exceeds that from its business intelligence software services. This financial dynamic makes it unlikely that the company will sell its Bitcoin holdings. It needs sufficient capital to service its debt obligations.
Influence of Michael Saylor’s & MicroStrategy Model on Global Firms
MicroStrategy’s strategy for accumulating Bitcoin has inspired others in the financial sector. A prime example is Metaplanet, often called “Asia’s MicroStrategy.” This Japanese investment firm is committed to increasing its Bitcoin holdings, undeterred by market fluctuations.

Recently, Metaplanet boosted its Bitcoin reserves to 1,000 BTC. It was followed by a purchase of 156.78 BTC valued at $10.4 Million at the time. Simon Gerovich is the CEO of Metaplanet. He has affirmed the firm’s long-term commitment to holding Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
After the U.S. Election, Can Bitcoin Soar?
Bitcoin continues to exhibit its characteristic volatility. BTC traded at $68685 at press time, reflecting a 1.25% incline. Despite these price swings, investor interest remains robust, as evidenced by a 22% increase in market volume to $42.03 billion.

Analysts are optimistic about Bitcoin’s future. Based on historical trends, they have predicted a significant price surge post-U.S. presidential election. In 2016, Bitcoin’s price soared from $700 before the election to $19,900 within a year.
Similarly, in 2021, it jumped from $13,600 pre-election to $69,000 a year later. If history repeats itself, Bitcoin could be poised for another substantial rally.
