Ethereum Foundation Offloads 7,294 ETH, Is $5,000 Price Target At Risk?

Key Insights:

  • Ethereum Foundation sold 7,294 ETH worth $33.25 million between August 13–15 at $4,558 each.
  • Validator exits hit a record high, with over 820,000 ETH in the withdrawal queue.
  • Ethereum price traded at $4,383, holding support at $4,200–$4,300 while facing $5,000 resistance.

The Ethereum Foundation sold 7,294 ETH valued at $33.25 million between August 13 and 15, 2025.

These sales happened while the price of Ethereum was trading near $4,558, and as validator exits from staking reached the highest level ever recorded.

The developments raised questions on whether the Ethereum price could hold its momentum toward the $5,000 mark.

Ethereum Foundation Selloff Draws Market Attention

Data from Lookonchain showed that the Ethereum Foundation-linked wallet, identified as 0xF39d, moved to sell 7,294 ETH in the last three days.

The sales were executed at an average price of $4,558. This amounted to $33.25 million worth of Ethereum being sold during the period.

This was not the first significant activity by the wallet. Records showed that the same address bought 33,678 ETH between June 13 and 16, 2022.

At that time, the price was much lower at $1,193 per coin. The earlier purchase highlighted the long-term gains realized following the recent selloff.

Market participants noted that such sales from foundation-linked addresses often spark discussion about Ethereum’s short-term price direction.

It is important to add that some traders read the move as profit-taking at a strong price level.

Others pointed out that the sales came as the Ethereum price was nearing its 2021 all-time high, just under $4,900.

This added to speculation on whether resistance around $5,000 would hold. Despite the large transactions, Ethereum’s broader trend remained intact.

Analysts said that one-off foundation sales did not necessarily reflect long-term changes in outlook but are often watched closely for signals on timing.

Validator Exits Hit Record Levels

Alongside the selloff, validator exits from Ethereum staking reached historic highs. Notably, on August 15, data showed around 767,000 ETH in the exit queue.

At current prices, this represented about $3.49 billion preparing to leave the staking system. Within a day, the figure had risen to over 820,000 ETH.

Validator exits occur when stakers decide to withdraw their ETH from the Beacon Chain.

This could be for profit-taking after price increases or to consolidate holdings under the updated 2,048 ETH maximum validator balance.

The large queue meant that withdrawals would take around 14.5 days to process under Ethereum’s design.

The network limits the flow of exits to maintain stability, meaning even record-high withdrawals are spread out over time.

Despite the spike in exits, more than 35 million ETH remained locked in staking. This continued to show strong participation and confidence in the long-term staking model.

Analysts observed that while big exits draw attention, the system is built to handle such movements without disruption to network operations.

Ethereum Price Holds Key Levels Amid Uncertainty

It is important to state that as of this writing, the Ethereum price was trading at $4,404.92, falling 5.12% for the day.

Market data also shows that in the weekly chart, the price stayed above the 50, 100, and 200-week averages, showing some strength.

The key barrier was between $4,800 and $5,000, the same level it reached in 2021.

Analysts said if it moves past that point, it could rise to $5,500 or $6,000.

More importantly, market sentiment also suggest that the fast rise in recent weeks could lead to short pullbacks.

Support was pegged between $4,200 and $4,300. If Ethereum stayed above that area, the outlook may stay positive.

The combination of the Foundation’s sale, the record validator exit, and the test of old highs placed Ethereum at a key stage.

Market watchers continued to assess whether the coin would keep advancing or pause before attempting to cross the $5,000 level.
