Gold price today broke $4,000 for the first time, indicating renewed investor appetite for stability. The rally continues the 2024 technical pattern, suggesting that Gold may rally higher before the end of October. Meanwhile, the Gold vs Bitcoin debate is heating up, with investors looking at the two assets to see which offers better long-term protection.
Gold Price Today Repeats Its 2024 Rally Setup
Analyst Gold Predictors stated that Gold price today is following a similar trajectory to last year’s pattern. In 2024, Gold formed an upward triangle between April and August before breaking out in September and peaking in October. This year, Gold broke out again in September and surged past $4000 with increasing volume and momentum.

Moreover, the asset has also broken out into a strong bullish move, supported by increasing geopolitical uncertainty, and is currently trading close to $3,999. Based on the analyst’s findings, the market remains supported by institutional buyers, indicating that prices could move towards $4,200 in the short term.
Momentum indicators remain positive, as long-term holders continue to accumulate. If the price remains above $3,940, analysts see further upside toward $4,250 before the end of the month.
Pullback May Occur Before Next Uptrend
More so, market strategist Shirley predicted a short-term correction before Gold continues to move higher. She said that the immediate reaction to each new high in Gold is for a retracement to consolidate gains. She highlighted several areas where the price could drop to $4,020 or $3,970 as traders begin to take profits.

However, Shirley said this pullback would be healthy for the continuing rally. She focused on the continued bullish trend, and the potential for a rebound would be preserved if support was maintained above $3,920. If the buying pressure tightens, then Gold could accelerate towards $4,200 or higher.
Her analysis suggested that traders should remain conservative in the short term. During strong rallies, and particularly if volume is still high, re-entry points are usually found during short-term pullbacks.
Gold vs. Bitcoin: Value Gap Widens
Dr Jan Wustenfeld, an economist, compared Bitcoin’s capitalisation, valued at $2.4 trillion, with the gold market’s worth of $27.6 trillion. He pointed out that Bitcoin would have to increase by more than 11 times, to around $1.4 million, to equal the valuation of Gold. The data highlights Gold’s continued dominance as the favored global store of value.

Wustenfeld also said that institutional investors are continuing to add to Their Gold holdings as the risks of inflation increase. Central banks have increased reserves in anticipation of debt instabilities and fiat devaluation. This trend represents increasing favoritism toward tangible assets that have proven to be more resilient.
Moreover, the surge in Gold prices today strengthens confidence in traditional safe havens. While Bitcoin is a risky investment, Gold will always be the choice of investors during economic volatility. The growing valuation gap reiterates that Gold’s legacy stability still outweighs digital volatility.
Correlation Between Gold and Crypto Increases
Importantly, Bitwise analyst Andre Dragosch noted that the correlation between Gold and Bitcoin has been positive again. He noted that when Gold price rises today, Bitcoin often follows as investor sentiment improves across alternative assets. This new correlation is similar to the 2021 synchronized uptrend between commodities and cryptocurrencies.

Dragosch clarified that both Gold and Bitcoin are the recipients of capital, which is flowing globally due to liquidity conditions. As bond yields fall and currencies weaken, investors are moving to hard assets for diversification. As a result, the steady rise of Gold is indirectly increasing confidence in the crypto market.
Furthermore, the analyst said that structural changes in investor trends may extend through 2026. Both assets are capitalizing on the loss of confidence in fiat currencies, and as such, diversification across physical and digital stores of value is a growing trend.
