Key Insights:
- DOGE trades at $0.157 with volume down 45%, signaling weakening momentum.
- 21Shares DOGE ETF filing may boost institutional interest and market exposure.
- Analysts showed DOGE in its 4th breakout triangle, targeting $5.
Dogecoin price is showing mixed signals amid a volatile market. At the time of writing, DOGE was trading at around $0.157 after gaining nearly 1% in the last 24 hours. While this upward movement may seemed positive, the broader metrics tell a more cautious story. Over 6.96 billion DOGE tokens exchanged hands within a day, totaling $1.09 billion in value.
However, daily trading volume declined more than 45%, suggesting that momentum might have been fading. Despite this, institutional interest continued to grow, with major developments potentially shaping DOGE’s future price action.
Volume and Open Interest Reflect Market Uncertainty for Dogecoin Price
Although Dogecoin price rebounded slightly, its weekly price performance still reflects over 6% in losses. This comes at a time when the global crypto market is under pressure, down by 0.25% to $2.58 trillion. Ethereum, for instance, lost nearly 3% in the same time frame, making Dogecoin resilience notable but fragile.
According to CoinGlass data, DOGE Futures Open Interest dropped by 1%, now standing at $1.43 billion. This decrease suggested hesitation among derivatives traders and a lack of conviction in a sustained upward move.
Notably, the disconnect between price and volume could signal an incoming reversal. Without strong buying pressure to back the recent gains, DOGE price might struggle to maintain its current position. Lower open interest also implies limited speculative interest at the moment. These metrics together point to a cautious environment where sentiment remains bearish unless strong catalysts emerge.
DOGE ETF Filing Could Catalyze Institutional Demand
A recent catalyst for Dogecoin’s market sentiment is the ETF development involving 21Shares. The firm filed an S-1 form with the U.S. SEC on April 9 to launch a DOGE ETF. If approved, this would provide investors with a new regulated channel to gain exposure to Dogecoin. It would follow similar efforts by Grayscale and Bitwise, which previously initiated filings for their Dogecoin-related products.

Additionally, 21Shares announced plans to introduce a DOGE ETP in Europe in partnership with the House of Doge. These moves are aimed at widening DOGE’s investor base beyond retail and into institutional portfolios.
Historically, ETF-related developments have led to short-term price spikes in crypto assets. Even if approval takes time, the news already adds legitimacy and appeal to Dogecoin’s long-term narrative.
Analyst Signal Breakout Pattern Formation for Dogecoin Price
According to CryptoElites, Doge price appeared to be forming a classic triangle breakout pattern. As shared on X, he depicted multiple symmetrical triangles, each followed by a significant rally.
Based on the analysis of the current chart, the current triangle formation is likely to shoot up to $5. This technical formation indicates higher lows, which indicate continuation to the upside and resistance levels.

These patterns may not necessarily repeat in the future. However, the fact that this has occurred multiple times in DOGE’s history lends this projection some credibility. The chart also indicated that previous breakouts were also experienced after similar volume contractions, a situation that is relevant in the current market. In case of a breakout, it may hit the short sellers and push up the price in the short term.
Weakness Still Looms Despite Bullish Structure
However, current market indicators continued to suggest a bear trend. The trading turnover was significantly lower than before, which implied fewer participants. Interestingly, high prices with low volumes have often resulted in short-lived price spikes. While DOGE remained in a narrow trading range, its price touched a high of $0.158 and a low of $0.1494 in the past 24 hours.
The decrease in CoinGlass Futures Open Interest intensified market uncertainty. The low interest in leveraged DOGE positions suggested that traders were scaling back rather than anticipating a breakout. This put the dogecoin price at risk of sharp selloffs in case broader sentiment failed to improve quickly.
