Gaming Giant SharpLink Buys 4,951 ETH, Crossing $500M Crypto Milestone
SharpLink Gaming (Nasdaq: SBET) added 4,951 Ethereum (ETH) to its holdings on June 30, according to on-chain data flagged by EmberCN. The firm reportedly spent $12.4 million on the purchase, pushing its total ETH stash past 200,000 coins now worth approximately $500 million.
The purchase occurred through two separate transactions, likely executed via over-the-counter (OTC) desks. According to Arkham Intelligence, most of SharpLink’s ETH holdings are currently staked via Figment, a liquid staking platform offering a 3.03% staking reward rate (SRR).
SharpLink’s Accumulation Pace Outpaces Institutional Norms
The company’s buying spree began in early June after closing a funding round. It first acquired 176,271 ETH for $463 million on June 13. Eleven days later, it bought another 12,207 ETH. With this latest addition, SharpLink has now purchased over 202,000 ETH in less than a month.

EmberCN noted that SharpLink spent a total of $528 million to accumulate 202,800 ETH at an average price of $2,606. Despite the aggressive accumulation, the firm’s portfolio is currently underwater by around $22.92 million based on current market prices.
“@SharpLinkGaming bought 4,951 ETH ($12.4M) in the past 5 hours,” EmberCN posted on X. “They started buying in early June and now hold over 200,000 ETH.”
The rapid pace of acquisition highlights a stark contrast with most public firms that favor Bitcoin (BTC) over altcoins. SharpLink’s decision to focus on Ethereum sets it apart from the institutional norm, which has mostly leaned toward Bitcoin ETFs and spot exposure.
Ethereum, Not Bitcoin, Takes the Spotlight
While publicly traded firms such as MicroStrategy continue to double down on Bitcoin, SharpLink has pivoted to Ethereum, making it one of the largest known corporate ETH holders.
Data from Arkham shows that SharpLink has distributed its holdings across multiple wallets, with a bulk of the funds staked via Figment. The staking yields of 3.03% SRR imply that the firm is positioning for long-term returns beyond simple capital appreciation.
This strategic focus on ETH, coupled with staking integration, hints at a more ecosystem-aligned investment thesis compared to typical treasury-based holdings seen in Bitcoin allocations.

“SharpLink now holds 200K+ ETH, worth nearly $500M,” @Ashcryptoreal noted. “Their bullish bet on ETH stands out.”
While the firm has not issued a direct statement regarding the June 30 transaction, it has maintained a consistent buying pattern since its initial announcement. The latest transfer aligns with a broader accumulation trend that has persisted throughout June, despite ETH price fluctuations.
Institutional Bets on Ethereum Continue to Build
SharpLink’s Ethereum accumulation arrives at a time when institutional appetite for crypto is expanding beyond Bitcoin. The gaming company’s aggressive ETH purchases come just weeks ahead of the anticipated U.S. spot Ethereum ETF decision, which could catalyze broader institutional participation.
Unlike speculative memecoin purchases, SharpLink’s ETH moves suggest calculated positioning. The use of OTC deals and immediate staking also points to a long-term holding strategy, reducing exposure to market volatility while generating yield.
SharpLink’s gaming background adds another layer. It operates in a sector where blockchain integration is increasingly relevant, possibly giving the firm operational motives for the Ethereum exposure beyond passive investment.
SharpLink Gaming’s crypto treasury now includes over 202,000 ETH, valued near $500 million, following its $12.4 million purchase on June 30. The firm’s rapid accumulation has positioned it as a leading Ethereum-holding public company distinct from others favoring Bitcoin.
By staking most of its ETH via Figment, SharpLink also benefits from a 3.03% SRR, suggesting a long-term play rather than short-term speculation.
