Key Insights:
- MSTR stock traded near $426.40, 28% below its 52-week high of $543.
- Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings hit 607,770 BTC, valued at over $43.6 billion.
- South Korea’s FSS warns against heavy ETF exposure to MSTR and other crypto-linked stocks.
MSTR stock reflected mixed sentiment on Tuesday as institutional focus shifted toward regulatory developments and corporate capital activity. Strategy’s latest Bitcoin acquisition follows a series of preferred stock issuances aimed at scaling its treasury holdings.
Meanwhile, new international guidance targeting crypto-linked equities has reintroduced compliance concerns for asset managers holding exposure to MSTR.
Momentum Builds, But Valuation Challenges MSTR Stock Forecasts
MSTR stock has gained 46% year-to-date and 172% over the past 12 months. However, its current price-to-sales ratio of 266 remains elevated compared to peers. The stock’s recent dip of 3.60% over five days may reflect short-term exhaustion after strong gains.
Despite the pullback, Strategy continues to aggressively accumulate Bitcoin. The company now holds digital assets worth approximately $43.61 billion at an average cost basis of $71,756 per BTC. The year-to-date Bitcoin yield of 20.8% also supports investor optimism, especially as the firm raised its 2025 target to 25%.
Still, based on MarketPeriodical`s projection, a move back toward the $500 level will likely require Bitcoin to hold above recent support and for capital markets to continue absorbing new issuance.
Strategy plans to raise $42 billion through equity and another $42 billion via fixed-income securities by the end of 2027. As of now, $21.1 billion in equity and $35.6 billion in debt issuance remain on the table.
Regulatory Pressure Emerges as ETFs Face Scrutiny
A fresh headwind appeared as South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service advised asset managers to reduce exposure to crypto-linked stocks. MSTR stock was specifically cited due to its large weighting in passive ETFs like the “KoACT US Nasdaq Growth Company Active ETF,” which holds 6.04% in Strategy.
These verbal guidelines stem from South Korea’s still-active 2017 restrictions against virtual asset holdings by regulated institutions.
Some ETFs face significant rebalancing challenges. For example, one domestic ETF holds 7.44% in Coinbase and 6.04% in MSTR stock, totaling 13.48% in crypto-related equities. Excluding such stocks could trigger tracking errors and distort index-linked performance.
On the other hand, Strategy launched a new perpetual preferred share, Stretch ($STRC), on July 21, offering monthly dividends and targeting $100 per share. The instrument introduces flexible issuance mechanics, including a call option and variable rates between 9.5% and 10%.
It complements existing preferred products like Strike and Strife.

The company’s expanding suite of Bitcoin-backed securities aligns with its treasury approach. Since 2020, Strategy has generated an annualized return of 104%, outpacing Bitcoin’s 59% over the same period. In Q2 2025 alone, the firm claimed $21 billion in digital asset value generated.
Software Revenue and AI Integration Support Fundamentals
In Q1 2025, Strategy reported total revenue of $111.1 million, down 3.6% year-over-year. However, subscription revenue rose by 61.6% to $37.1 million, driven by its analytics platform, Strategy One. The platform serves clients in industries like banking, healthcare, and telecom.
The company is also investing in generative AI tools to help enterprise clients deploy AI-powered applications faster. These efforts support diversification beyond crypto holdings. While not the primary stock driver, recurring SaaS revenue adds stability to long-term forecasts for MSTR stock.
For Q2, analysts expect the company to report a narrowed loss per share and a full-year profit of $7.30, marking a 209% increase year-over-year. These figures add context to the ongoing price recovery and may affect investor expectations in upcoming earnings.
Market Indicators Suggest MSTR Stock Could Retest Highs
MSTR stock traded between $413.60 and $433.94 on July 23, opening at $428.85. Volume hit 10.52 million, under the 13 million average. The stock’s stochastic %K is at 61.04%, indicating moderate upward momentum.

Meanwhile, the market is trying to consolidate following a powerful multi-quarter rally. Barchart has rated it as a Strong Buy, with a 100% Buy signal and strengthening short-term trend. It is indicated by a weighted alpha of +114.72. That shows continuation of the long-term trend as long as the market conditions are favorable.
Provided that Bitcoin stays above the level of $120,000 and capital flows persist, MSTR stock can surpass the $500 mark within a few months. However, stretched valuation and regulatory risks remain a warning to institutional holders.
