Key Insights:
- Solana investors exhibited caution, as indicated by the decreasing Realized Cap value.
- Whales transferred 240,000 SOL from Galaxy Digital to Binance, raising concerns about a potential sell-off.
- Analysts predicted bullish outcomes for Solana, based on ETF expectations and improved volume.
Investor risk appetite for Solana (SOL) has reduced substantially over the past week. This signals a bearish outlook for the asset, particularly as it coincides with a huge SOL transfer to Binance.
Amid conflicting price outlooks in the crypto market, analysts are watching out for what this could mean for the Solana price.
Realized cap changes for SOL, BTC, and ETH
As confirmed by Glassnode, the realized cap growth for top cryptocurrencies has decelerated over the past 7 days.
In crypto, the ‘Realized Cap’ metric represents the realized value of a coin in the network, as opposed to its market price. Unlike the Market Capitalization, this metric focuses on the actual acquisition price of a cryptocurrency.
When Realized Cap rises, it indicates new capital inflow as long-term holders and short-term participants add to their positions.
In contrast, a decreasing Realized Cap suggests reduced participation among traders and investors.
The data from Glassnode revealed the Realized Cap for Bitcoin decreased from 6.66% to 5.46% in just 7 days. Likewise, the Realized Cap metric for Solana price plunged from 6.34% to 4.84% within the same period.

This decrease is a negative signal for Solana. It implies a lack of confidence among SOL investors in the network and the asset. Unsurprisingly, it coincides with a 6.3% weekly decline in SOL price.
On the daily chart, Solana also experienced a more than 25% decrease in trading volume. The metric that shows market activity has fallen to $4 billion.
Unlike SOL and BTC, Ethereum (ETH) showed resilience as Realized Cap climbed from 5.32% to 6.41%.
This signaled bullish potential for ETH, particularly as the coin’s price registers a 1.4% gain in the last 24 hours.
Galaxy Digital Moves 250,000 Solana to Binance
Amid the decreasing risk appetite from Solana investors, Lookonchain spotted a huge SOL whale transaction.
In an X post, the onchain data analytics platform Lookonchain revealed that Galaxy Digital had unstaken 250,000 SOL, which was valued at $40.7 million. Following this, Galaxy transferred the coin to the Binance exchange.

The move suggests Galaxy Digital is preparing for a sale, hedging, or just rebalancing exposure. The development is one of the largest SOL whale transfers in the last 7 days. Moves like this often precede volatility.
On April 7, Solana price dropped to as low as $94.29 after two whale wallets sold over 149,000 SOL, valued at $16 million. Chart patterns also exhibited greater selling pressure and diminished buying pressure at the time.
Solana Price Forecast: What to Expect Next
The Solana price has defied bearish historical trends in the current market cycle. At press time, SOL traded for less than $2 away from the $170 psychological level.
According to MarketCap data, SOL price was changing hands for $169.42, demonstrating a 3.21% increase in the last 24 hours.
Solana has shown signs of rebound after touching the 61.8% Fibonacci level and forming a base near $160.
However, the current retracement may be short-lived as indicated by the previous breakout-retest structure and well-defined trendlines.
Nonetheless, a move between $180 and $185 target line is likely if the price continues to hold above $160.
Analysts recently forecasted that SOL price could reach $220, $250, and even surpass $280. This prediction, however, comes on the back of soaring volume, which suggested strong participation from buyers.
The possible launch of an SOL-based exchange-traded fund (ETF) is a key top catalyst that may push the Solana price higher. An SOL ETF would give investors direct access to the asset and likely fuel institutional demand.
As demand increases, the SOL price is anticipated to climb higher. This scenario was seen following the recently launched REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF (SSK).
This unique ETF allows American investors to benefit from SOL’s uptrend and staking rewards.
