The report stated that this can only be achieved through action and has recommended that focus should first be on UK strong areas in fixed incomes, international Foreign Exchange (FX), equities, derivatives and trusted financial intermediaries.
In order to achieve this, Woolard’s report outlined ten immediate priorities that the UK must work on. It went further to establish a Digital Markets Champion Industry Taskforce that will focus on these priority areas over the next 12 months.
The taskforce is a list of who’s who in the financial and digital assets sectors, with BlackRock, Ripple, Coinbase, and JPMorgan on the list. Other crypto native firms, including Fireblocks, Kraken, Wintermute, Chainalysis, and Circle, are also on the list.
However, major financial firms such as Barclays, Citadel, Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, Jane Street, and Lloyds dominate the list, which comprises 54 firms.
According to the report, these firms have been grouped into nine action groups and play different roles in the roadmap. While firms in Groups 1 to 4 will focus on financial services, including issuance, settlement, and infrastructure, those in Groups 5 to 8 will provide support services such as legal, compliance, and resilience.
Tokenization Continues Growth as UK Report Predicts $88 Trillion by 2035
Meanwhile, the move to embrace and enable tokenization in the UK highlights the sector’s growing interest from both traditional institutions and authorities. According to the UK report, the tokenized real-world assets (RWA) market could reach $88 trillion by 2035.
That will represent a massive jump from the current level of $34.19 billion, according to rwa.xyz. However, the growth trend shows that the market cap of tokenized assets has already more than doubled in the past year.

Unsurprisingly, the growth has been driven in part by the growing interest from traditional financial institutions. However, crypto-native firms such as Ripple are also pushing to enable tokenization, with the firm positioning XRPL as an institution-facing tokenization network.
