2025 could be the golden year for the crypto world, with numerous significant events to follow. In this series, the market has just witnessed the first crypto acquisition deal of the year.
With the year’s beginning, FalconX, a crypto brokerage, has taken over the crypto derivatives platform Arbelos Markets. The price agreed upon hasn’t been disclosed yet.
On January 2nd, CEO and co-founder Raghu Yarlagadda announced the deal in his X post. He made the disclosure one hour after the Bloomberg report.
Details of the Transaction by the Crypto Brokerage
Crypto brokerage FalconX’s CEO made this acquirement news public on January 2nd. In his announcement post, Raghu showed his excitement toward the development.

He welcomed the Arbelos team on onboarding. Raghu also expressed his thrill about the opportunity to work with Arbelos Markets co-founders Joshua Lim and Shiliang Tang.
The Digital asset brokerage CEO stated, “@falconxnetwork has officially acquired @Arbelosxyz. A huge welcome to the Arbelos team! We’re thrilled to have you onboard and look forward to building together. @joshua_j_lim @ShiliangTang Sergio.”
There is not much information available regarding the deal in public space. The firm has not even informed how the transaction would take place. However, a report from Bloomberg, published on Tuesday, shed some light on this deal.
The report said the deal was anticipated to be financed through cash and FalconX stock. This information was given by people familiar with the transaction. The informants preferred to remain anonymous because of the confidentiality of the purchase by crypto brokerage.
Hopes from the Acquisition
In the same post, Raghu outlined his high hopes for this acquisition. He highlighted that this deal has placed FalconX in a better position in the industry. Combining Arbelos Markets’ systematic trading capabilities with FalconX’s balance sheet can create more value for institutional clients.

This combination also involves regulatory readiness and a broad client base. It can work in favor of improving the ecosystem of the crypto brokerage platform.
Yarlagadda wrote, “This isn’t just about scaling FalconX — it’s about building the foundation for the next phase of crypto market growth. A healthy, transparent derivatives market is key to long-term institutional confidence.”
Raghu also discussed how institutional investors entered the crypto market this year. He mentioned, “In 2024, institutions entered crypto via ETFs”.

He emphasized that many have since expanded into derivatives for capital efficiency, 24/7 access, and greater liquidity. His digital asset brokerage, FalconX, experienced a 5x year-on-year increase in the derivatives business.
