MSTR Stock Jumps 3% Before MicroStrategy Earnings Despite Zero Bitcoin Purchase

MSTR stock price has gained 3% in the pre-market trading session on Monday, shooting to $418, as investors await MicroStrategy’s Q2 earnings report this week on July 31. As per its latest filing, in the week between July 21-27, the company made no new Bitcoin purchases, while putting major focus on the STRC IPO. Although the stock has remained flat over the past month, an analyst at TD Cowen believes it has the potential to rally another 30%.

MSTR Stock Shows Upside Before MicroStrategy Earnings

A recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confirms that MicroStrategy did not add to its Bitcoin holdings last week. Thus, the company’s total Bitcoin holdings remain at 607,770 BTC, acquired at a total cost of $43.61 billion, with an average purchase price of $71,756 per bitcoin.

The likely reason behind the slowdown appears to be market anticipation surrounding MicroStrategy’s upcoming earnings release, scheduled for this Thursday. With its massive Bitcoin holdings, the company’s financial disclosures often influence broader market sentiment. As said, the MSTR stock is showing strength in the early trading hours on Monday.

Today’s pause on Bitcoin purchases comes despite Executive Chairman Michael Saylor hinting at another potential acquisition. In a post on July 27, featuring the company’s BTC portfolio tracker, Saylor wrote, “It all began with a quarter billion in Bitcoin.”

Analysts expect the company to post a narrower net loss of $0.10 per share, compared to a loss of $0.57 per share in Q2 2024. Revenue for the quarter is projected at $13.65 million, representing a modest 2% year-over-year increase.

Ahead of the results, TD Cowen analyst Lance Vitanza raised his price target on MSTR to a Street-high of $680, up from $590, while maintaining a Buy rating. Vitanza forecasts Bitcoin could reach $155,000 by the end of 2025, a move he believes would significantly boost MSTR stock price.

MicroStrategy Focuses on STRC IPO

Over the past week, Michael Saylor’s firm has been putting greater focus on the STRC IPO and has managed to raise a staggering $2.5 billion, from its initial target of $500 million. As a result, MicroStrategy has set the record as the largest U.S. IPO of 2025 to date. This shows growing confidence among investors in the firm’s Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
