Can Bitcoin Price Reach $70K After Breaking Above $66,000 Resistance?

Bitcoin traded above $66,000 on Tuesday after breaking the $65,000 resistance area. The move brought the $67,500–$68,000 zone into focus, with some traders identifying $70,000 as the next technical level if buyers sustain the breakout. However, Bitcoin still requires a confirmed daily close above nearby resistance and stronger spot-market participation.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: $70K Comes Into View

CoinGlass recorded approximately $200 million in cryptocurrency liquidations over the preceding 24 hours at the time of publication. Specify how much came from short positions, because the total figure may also include long liquidations.

The immediate test sits between $67,500 and $68,000. Trader Ted Pillows said Bitcoin could gain another 5% to 6% quickly if buyers reclaim that area.

Such a move would place the price near $71,000 to $72,000 and strengthen the case for a run toward the upper part of the previous range.

$66K Breakout Faces a Wider Supply Zone

Bitcoin price now trades near the upper boundary of a descending channel that has guided price action since early June. The same area also contains supply between $66,000 and $67,000. Sellers may defend this zone after the market fell through it during the earlier decline.

A daily close above the channel and the supply area would improve the current structure. Bitcoin price has already formed higher lows after rebounding from the $57,000 to $60,000 support region. A break could open the route toward $70,000, where the 100-day moving average currently sits. The 200-day moving average near $73,000 creates another barrier above that level.

The four-hour chart shows stronger short-term conditions. Bitcoin has moved above earlier resistance near $58,000 and $61,000 while buyers continue to defend higher support levels. The relative strength index has moved close to 70, indicating firm buying pressure but also raising the chance of a short pause.

Derivatives Traders Position for More Upside

QCP Capital reported demand for month-end Bitcoin upside options and said dealers were short upside gamma ahead of the Federal Reserve’s July 28–29 meeting. Short-gamma positioning can amplify price moves because dealers may need to buy Bitcoin as prices rise, although that effect depends on the size, strikes and persistence of the options exposure.

The Federal Reserve meeting may shape short-term risk demand. Current market pricing points to no rate change at the July meeting, while traders continue to watch the September outlook. Changes in rate expectations, oil prices, or tensions around the Strait of Hormuz could affect Bitcoin and other risk assets during the final days of the month.

Some traders remain cautious about the strength of spot demand. Market commentator Exitpump said short covering helped drive part of the rally and questioned the level of fresh buying. Bitcoin price may therefore need stronger spot volume to hold above resistance after leveraged positions leave the market.

BTC Crypto On-Chain Data Keeps $70K Target Open

Bitcoin’s Net Unrealized Profit and Loss metric stands near 0.18. The reading shows that investors hold moderate unrealized gains, far below levels linked with overheated market conditions.

The metric has recovered from lower levels as Bitcoin price moved away from the June bottom, but it has not reached a zone that usually brings heavy profit-taking.

Bitcoin’s break above $65,000 improved the short-term structure, but the $67,500–$68,000 region remains the main confirmation zone. A sustained close above that range could bring $70,000–$72,000 into focus, while a return below $65,000 would weaken the breakout. Liquidations and options positioning may amplify short-term volatility, but stronger spot demand remains necessary for a sustained advance.
